The golden pistol, dream by mikele -- Jan. 13, 2013

We are on an old sail boat, like pirates, may be in the Caribbean. We may have to attack a fort. I am given an old pistol, single bullet, wick and stone. Although it is a beautiful weapon, I feel this will not be enough in a real modern fight. So I ask if they have something more modern, but this is all they can give me. I am also given the metal piece to clean the canon, which I try. I ask for the other accessories, and for bullets. I expect to get a bag of gun powder and bullets. In place of this, I get a wooden box about 10 inches large. It opens and I see inside a beautiful golden mechanism that makes the bullets. It catches a golden ball with on of its arms, and by closing the box, the golden bullet is compressed and given its proper shape. I am not sure, though, why we need to reshape the bullet, since it is already usable.

Hi marzbar, many thanks for opening the dreamwork act here! :)

I'll try to recall what I can from the dream, and will use the spontaneous associations that come to my mind to complete the holes.

Who is "We": right after the dream, I was not sure, but a week later, as I write this, may be my colleagues ?

The sailboat, it is really like a pirate ship from the 18th century ~ imagine Pirates of the Caribbean ... May be representing the new company/job ... That resonates :)

Weather is nice: sunny, but also with these white fluffy clouds, indicating some atmospheric turmoil.

The fort: guarding one of the green, lush Caribbean islands. May be it represents something old that needs to be overcome. Not sure who's in there, old stuff ... may be finishing paying some financial debt!

In the dream, I cannot see it, but I can imagine it.

The feeling of attacking that fort is good, it feels like a step in a good direction. As said above, it may feel good as with finishing to soon pay off a debt, close a chapter. There is indeed such a chapter in my waking life, moving on properly. I am not frightened at all about this fight, despite the old weapons.

In waking life, I started a new job, first as consultant, and now I've been offered a full time position. Here's how I related the old and new weapons: the old weapons, that I received, are the compensation they gave me, and the modern weapon is what I asked for. Yet, the magic of the old weapon seems to say that by choosing them, I will have much more. Indeed, the thought of the new weapon is a little dull. I've also been watching movies/reading material on wars recently. Also, an old friend in waking life, that I met =on a sailboat crossing the Atlantic from Europe to the Caribbean years ago was supposed to visit in California, but eventually didn't, I was a little disappointed. All that seems to blend together. However, the old weapon, and the box, have this numinosity, mystery, magical aura around them.

Another association that resonates strongly is that of procreation: the gun... and the "arm" in the box carrying the bullet, like the arm of a watch but bigger, would be the Fallopian tube, the bullet the egg ... and closing the box, the act. I may consider drawing this box.

There was also a strange feeling, when needing to reshape the bullet, it was not perfectly spherical, but still could go in the canon. But waiting to press it and having it spherical, brought it this numinous quality. Dream message: take your time to get things right, no need to rush even though it seems OK (my attitude) ?

Most of the crew had old beautiful weapons, only a few people had the new ones ~ may be the managers ? I knew there was a modern weapon I could have, but eventually I was happy with the old one.

The modern weapons were like small M-16s, dark, thin, that contrast to the old beautiful guns.

No "canons" on the ship, at least that we were to use ~ by weapons I mean personal one.

Thanks for the questions ~ I'll be happy to continue this!

    Hi mikele,
This is such a great dream! I’ll start with some amplification questions(see page 101/102 of The Dreamworking Manual) and then I’ll check back.
Who is ‘we’ on the old sailboat? Can you describe the sailboat--what size, how many of you are on the boat? You say you may be in the Caribbean…where do you think? What’s the weather like? How does the weather feel to you? Where is the fort? Can you see it from where you are? Why do you have to attack it? Who is in or at the fort? What’s the feeling of knowing you may have to attack a fort? You comment on contrast-old boat, old pistol for a modern fight…can you tell me more about that? How does it feel to have old weaponry for a modern fight? What is the feeling when you’re told that this is all they can give you? To clarify, there is also a canon on board or are you talking about the gun here? You say there’s a sense of awe and beauty in the face of the weapon and the mechanism that creates the bullet…what’s the feeling as you close the box and the golden bullet is compressed? What’s the shape of the bullet if not its proper shape (even though usable)? What is the feeling of having to reshape something that is usable already? Does everyone get a beautiful golden mechanism, or just you?

    Thanks for sharing...marzbar
