The trickster figure, part 2: The animal disguise party, synchronicity by mikele -- Jan. 17, 2012
I am still reading about the trickster figure,The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious. Yesterday morning, and this morning too, I was reading the passage where Jung describes a French medieval ceremony where someone gets dressed as an ass and people proceed with singing and dancing towards the church.
Today, during a break, a colleague says he plans to go to a "Burning Man party" on Saturday, where people are supposed to "be dressed up as animals".

Trickster a counter point to the killing of the father (serious business) - joined together at that party ?
Additional info: After telling us about this Burning Man party - we started talking about the reference to the father figure killing in Freud (Totem and Tabou, Moses and Monotheism ...)
Then I realized they were talking about the animal dressing party, corresponding to the trickster figure - what I was reading about in Jung.
The issue of synchronicity came up after discussing the issue of the burning man from Freud's point of view - ie. killing of the father, Totem and Tabou, Moses and Monotheist. Then I realized that this party corresponds as well to the trickster figure.
