A large chunk of this dream was forgotten as I only suffice to write this several days later. Some form of instability led to a situation in which I was swimming in some sort of dank lake, and not by choice. A large sea snake appeared, maybe 20-30cm in girth and of unknown length. I managed to fend it off using some tongs to grasp its cheek but the overall prognosis was not good. This was apparent to the 'audience' which seemed to be in the background of my consciousness, and now I do wonder if such an audience is always present in my dreams
